Social Action
Social Action

Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, is a basic tenet of Reform Judaism and the overall mission of our Social Action Committee. Under this broad umbrella, and often in association with other national Jewish organizations including the RAC (Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism) rac.org and Bend The Arc bendthearc.us, we work for a multitude of causes: racial and economic justice, voting rights, environmental protections, homelessness, and feeding the hungry. Join us in this sacred mission, written in the Torah as tzedakah and acts of loving kindness. To get involved contact us.

JanJanuary 16 , 2026Jewish Meditation Chavurah
Friday, Jan 16th 4:50p to 5:50p
Join our monthly Jewish Meditation Chavurah—a welcoming and safe space for gathering, reflection, and connection. Each session will include guided meditation grounded in Jewish tradition, time for sharing in community, and the opportunity to deepen personal growth through a dedicated meditation partner outside of gatherings. Supported by a grant from Hadar, participants commit to attending all eight sessions to foster trust and continuity. Each meeting includes a light vegetarian nosh and beverages. No prior meditation experience or physical ability is necessary—just a willingness to be present and connect . Led by Dr. Hanna Chusid, Lic Psychologist. Hanna has been weaving Jewish wisdom and practice in healing arts for half a century. A certified Jewish Meditation teacher for nearly 25 years, Hannah brings her knowledge and passion in Jewish meditation to this thoughtful series. -

JanJanuary 18 , 2026Better Together
Sunday, Jan 18th 11:45a to 1:30p
Our monthly Better Together program is back in action! Better Together is designed to foster relationships between our older congregants (technically senior citizens, but we are flexible with this requirement) and our younger congregants (from 4th through 12th grade). We start with a catered lunch together and then get into fun activities. This year, we’ll be having a cooking class, getting a tour of the SLO Art Museum, working on a Purim spiel together, and as always, learning about Jewish values. Now in our 4th year, we are always open to new faces from our membership. There is never any cost to participate. If you are interested for yourself or a kiddo, or would just like more info, please reach out to Mark Getten -
